A new program for patients with acquired brain injuries opened at the Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation – Las Colinas last month. The Day Neuro Rehabilitation Program, which was first established at Baylor Tom Landry Fitness Center, offers comprehensive services to help patients function better in their daily lives.

Therapists at the Las Colinas Day Neuro Program are certified brain injury specialists. They include a variety of disciplines—from speech-language pathology to neuropsychology—and collaborate with physicians to provide individualized therapies to patients with traumatic brain injury, stroke or brain tumors.

To assist with quality outpatient recovery, the Neuro Day Program:

  • Involves patients and family members in the treatment plan.
  • Encourages patient and family understanding of neurological disorders.
  • Employs a three-part holistic approach to rehabilitation, which addresses psychosocial, cognitive and sensorimotor problems.

Individuals with acquired brain injury may be eligible for the Day Neuro Program if they are unable to live independently due to complications, could potentially return to work or need to resume activities such as driving or caring for their family.
