The Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council (DFWHC) Foundation has named Baylor Scott and White Institute for Rehabilitation (BSW Rehab) recreational therapist, Loraine Erwin, as the 2019 recipient of the Employee of the Year -- Special Recognition award . This is the 2nd year in a row that a BSW Rehab employee has been recognized by the DFWHC Foundation.
The award was announced at yesterday’s 23rd Annual Employee of the Year Luncheon held at the Hurst Conference Center. The ceremony recognized more than 125 nominees from 13 area hospital systems. Erwin received the 2019 Employee of the Year - Special Recognition Award in the 1-99 bed category for her development and oversight of the Community Aquatics Program at BSW Rehab-Dallas.
"I am thrilled for Loraine that she has been recognized for her work in our aquatics program," noted David Smith, CEO, BSW Rehab-Dallas. "Loraine has been instrumental in developing this program throughout the years, and has the passion and heart for the benefits of aquatics therapy in the recovery process for both our patients and community members."
Erwin developed the community aquatics program that allows people to swim who cannot participate in other exercise programs due to conditions that limit their mobility. As a champion of this program, Erwin has grown it to its current capacity of over 600 visits per month.
