About Patricia Rice
Patricia A. Rice currently serves as Executive Advisor to the Chairman of the Select Medical Board. As a national provider of specialized health care, Select Medical has more than 42,000 employees and provides patient care in 46 states and the District of Columbia.
Rice joined Select Medical in 1997 and has served in various leadership capacities, including Senior Vice President of Hospital Operations and Executive Vice President of Operations. She was named Chief Operating Officer in 2002, and was appointed to the additional post of President in 2005. In 2013, Rice began serving in her current role.
During her tenure, Select Medical was recognized as one of Forbes Magazine’s "Best Managed Companies in America" and Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation achieved its highest ranking ever in U.S. News & World Report as the nation’s #2 rehabilitation hospital.
A registered nurse by background, Rice holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Berea College in Kentucky and a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Kentucky College of Nursing. She has been recognized as one of Pennsylvania’s "Best 50 Women in Business" and in 2011, was named to Modern Healthcare’s prestigious "Top 25 Women in Healthcare" list. That same year, Rice had a key leadership role in the Select Medical – Baylor Scott and White Health joint venture partnership that created a regional rehabilitation network to serve the Greater Dallas-Fort Worth community.
