Day Neuro Rehabilitation Program

Welcome to Our Day Neuro Rehabilitation Program

This comprehensive day rehabilitation program is designed for persons with acquired brain injury, such as a traumatic brain injury, stroke, brain tumor or other neurological conditions. The program offers specialized therapy activities to promote recovery of cognitive skills, communication, physical and social problems. A team of medical professionals including speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists and neuropsychologists work together with physicians to provide individualized, outcome-oriented intervention. The overall goal of the Day Neuro Program is to promote independence and improve quality of life within the community.

Program Overview

The interdisciplinary treatment team evaluates each new patient during the first days of attendance. Based upon their findings, they will develop a treatment plan to meet the individual needs of each patient. Due to the complexity of the neurological disorders resulting from brain injury, a variety of specialists comprise the treating team. Each specialist brings to the team an expertise in a specific area of neurological rehabilitation. There is naturally some overlap of expertise and responsibilities among the team members, and they will vary depending upon the needs of the individual and their specific situation.

Most Day Neuro stays are about eight weeks. This varies from patient to patient and can last anywhere from a 2-week to a 16-week stay. After the initial evaluation, patients will participate in 5-6 hours of therapy a day, Monday through Friday.

What To Expect

Your First Day

A family member or caregiver will need to accompany you on the first day and stay with you throughout the orientation process. We will be with you every step of the way to answer any questions or concerns. Each member of your rehab team will then schedule a time to evaluate your needs and work with you on developing an individualized treatment plan. Beyond that, you can expect quality and compassionate care from every Baylor Scott & White Rehab employee. Our goal is to help you reach your rehabilitation goals.

Once you arrive, our patient service specialist will verify all insurance information with you and begin the admission process. You will then meet with our case manager to continue your admission and schedule your family conference, which are typically scheduled two weeks after your admission. Your family and/or primary caretaker should plan on being present during the first 1-2 hours of your first day. We will review important information about your upcoming stay.

After meeting with the case manager, initial evaluations with your physical, occupational and speech therapists will take place. You will meet with each therapy discipline to begin your examinations and assessments for establishing your individualized plan of care.
