Parkinson’s Disease Management
Our Parkinson’s disease management program is beneficial to all stages of progression, from new diagnosis to many years post. Our therapists use the highly specialized Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) in order to improve physical function, speech production and voicing. LSVT LOUD is a four-week intensive speech therapy program that includes daily homework practice and carryover exercises. LSVT BIG, along with physical therapy, is used to treat the physical movement aspects of Parkinson’s. Our treatment goals are designed to help you manage Parkinson’s with a life-long carryover of improved communication and motor movement when walking and completing daily tasks.
Parkinson’s disease management includes:
- Treatment provided by licensed therapists certified in LSVT
- LSVT LOUD focuses on high intensity voice exercises that help improve speech volume, speech intelligibility and ambulation.
- LSVT BIG focuses on high intensity physical therapy to treat the movement aspects of Parkinson’s disease.
- The length of LSVT is four weeks with therapy sessions on four consecutive days per week.
