Balance and Fall Prevention
Vestibular dysfunction, vision problems, arthritis and muscle weakness can all contribute to an increased risk of falling. We can help you reduce the risk of falling and the consequences resulting from a fall. We will evaluate your current condition and design a treatment plan to strengthen you lower body and core muscles. Vestibular dysfunction can have a major impact on your independence due to its effects on your equilibrium. Symptoms include exaggerated sense of motion, motion sickness, dizziness, vertigo, nausea and vomiting, difficulty walking, lack of coordinated movement and blurred vision with head movement.
Common vestibular conditions include: Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV), Meniere's, Unilateral/Bilateral vestibular weakness or Vestibulopathy, Vestibular neuritis and Labyrinthitis. Vestibular Rehabilitation is an exercise-based treatment designed to decrease your dizziness, stabilize vision and help you regain control of your balance and posture.
