Manual Therapy & IASTM Manual Therapy

Manual Therapy

Manual therapy is a form of physical therapy utilizing specific hands-on techniques including manipulation and mobilization. Our physical therapists can treat soft tissues and joint structures for the purpose of reducing pain and increasing range of motion. Manual therapy can also help reduce soft tissue inflammation and promote tissue repair.

IASTM Manual Therapy

IASTM stands for Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization. It is a form of manual therapy that has been proven effective for a number of chronic soft tissue conditions including Plantar Fasciitis, Achilles Tendinosis, IT Band Syndrome, Shin Splints, Knee Pain, and Hip Pain. The IASTM process targets the physiological source of the pain or injury. IASTM effectively deals with scarred or degenerative tissue that can occur after injuries in muscles, tendons or ligaments. IASTM stimulates the return of healthy muscle and tissue.

Conditions that typically respond well to IASTM:

  • Caral tunnel syndrome
  • DeQuervain's tenosynovitis
  • IT band syndrome
  • Lateral epicondylitis
  • Medial epicondylitis
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Post-surgical scarring
