New wound care center to offer specialized treatment for healing chronic wounds

LAKEWAY, Texas – July 29, 2021 -- Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation (BSWIR) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 29, 2021, to mark the opening of a specialized Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center at its Lakeway hospital, located at 2000 Medical Drive. This new center offers leading-edge treatment to help heal wounds, including diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections, radiation injuries to soft tissue and bone, and skin grafts and flaps, and improve the quality of life for patients. “More than 6.7 million people across the U.S. are living with chronic wounds, a health issue fueled by increasing rates of certain medical conditions such as diabetes and an aging patient population,” said Sara Wriborg, chief executive officer, BSWIR – Lakeway. “In the top 10 zip codes in the Lakeway area, there are approximately 2900 patients at any one time who require wound care treatment. We’re now here to provide the advanced care to help individuals heal and avoid further complications, including infections and amputation.”
