Perspectives: Our 2021 Annual Review

A new perspective

Welcome to Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation’s new digital newsletter, Perspectives. The goal of this quarterly publication is to share important advances in care, promising avenues of research and the pioneering technologies that are helping to not only to improve patient outcomes, but to change the course of medical rehabilitation.

We will offer our perspective on the many issues and trends, challenges and opportunities in today’s health care environment. And we encourage you to share your comments, questions and concerns with us. Together, we will continue to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.

In this issue of Perspectives, we take a look back on some of our many accomplishments of 2021 – and how they are reinforcing the foundation for our work going forward.

Message from our president

In many ways, 2021 began where 2020 left off – in the midst of a global pandemic that has tested us in countless, unprecedented ways. However, we persevered, fortunate in our ability to quickly adapt, embrace safe care protocols and continue to treat patients with complex medical rehabilitation needs. That includes those dealing with the effects of COVID-19. Despite the challenges, our commitment to care excellence never wavered and, as the year progressed, we found a new sense – a renewed sense – of hope and accomplishment.
