Steve Newton
Chairman of the Board
Steve Newton is chief delivery system operations officer at Baylor Scott & White Health, the largest not-for-profit health system in Texas. The system’s integrated delivery network includes Baylor Scott & White Health Plan, Baylor Scott & White Research Institute, Baylor Scott & White Quality Alliance and its leading digital health platform, MyBSWHealth. Through 51 hospitals and more than 1,200 access points, including flagship academic medical centers in Dallas, Fort Worth and Temple, the system offers the full continuum of care, from primary to award-winning specialty care, as well as an array of virtual and in-home services.
In his role, Newton oversees the operations of our hospitals, clinics, ambulatory care facilities and joint ventures. He most recently served as chief growth officer, with responsibility for driving enterprise growth and partnerships that improve the customer experience. In prior roles, he served as president of Baylor University Medical Center and the Baylor Scott & White Health Central and West Regions, president of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Grapevine, and president of Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center – Fort Worth. A nearly 35-year industry veteran, he earlier held leadership roles at the HCA-owned Research Medical Center.
Newton served as a board member of the DFW Hospital Council Foundation, United Way of Tarrant County, Recovery Resource Council and the Healthy Tarrant County Collaborative and is past chairman of the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council and the American Heart Association Tarrant County affiliate. He was a founding board member of the Healing Shepard Clinic of Union Gospel Mission.
Newton is a cum laude graduate of Williams College and received a master’s degree in public health from Yale University.
